Hair Removal 101

Are you worried about body hair for your boudoir session? Don't!!

First off, body hair is COMPLETELY NORMAL despite what mainstream media will lead you to believe. We are all born with body hair, some of us more than others but when it all comes down to it - ITS JUST HAIR. And it's nothing to be embarrassed about or something you should feel pressured to remove.

If you want to arrive to your session all natural, go for it! We are here to cheer you on and make you feel amazing no matter what your personal grooming preferences are.

And we are not just talking about "hair down there," we are talking about body hair anywhere on your body.

Now, if you DO want to remove some hair, here's what we can offer you for tips and tricks.

  1. Do NOT try a new form of hair removal within 30 days of your session. If you have never waxed before, don't start now. Just keep doing what you have always done so that we don't have any surprise reactions or rashes to deal with during your shoot. Nothing feels less sexy than red, bumpy, irritated skin.

  2. If you shave: A good rule of thumb is to EXFOLIATE, SHAVE, MOISTURIZE. Unless you have hair that grows back super fast, we recommend shaving the day BEFORE your session just in case. It's probably a good idea to use a fresh new razor before your session for the closest shave!

  3. If you wax (or want to try it): Start waxing 3-4 months BEFORE your session, and go on a schedule recommended by your esthetician. The more you wax, the lighter and softer your hair will grow back. If you are someone who has thick, dark hair that is visible below the skin, this is a great option to lighten the appearance of those areas for your shoot!

  4. If you 'sugar' (or want to try it): This process is somewhat similar to the process of waxing. Start a few months prior and follow the instructions of your esthetician.

  5. Laser hair removal: The process is lengthy so this is not something you can rely on for hair removal unless your session is 6+ months away and you plan on going regularly for your treatments.
